There are common clinical characteristics in ectopic humoral syndromes which undoubtedly play key roles in the diagnosis of these clinical entities, but careful observation during routine laboratory tests of cancer patients will make it possible to detect the early stages of the diseases before clinical symptoms become evident (Fig. 21.8).
The clinical features of ectopic humoral syndromes are in many ways similar to those of eutopic humoral syndromes. Therefore, the features that differentiate between these syndromes will be emphasised.
